This section includes storyboards to convey my message to my visually impaired friends that an AI enabled device can improve their productivity levels, make them happy and keep them safe. The 'art of possibility' is depicted visually in form of comic book chapters with actors communicating in a given situation.

The storyboard illustrates the conversations between a visually impaired person and his AI enabled Virtual Assistant device. It depicts the experience of the Persona & his support System. The device mostly works on Voice Commands, but also has Braille keypads, which during 'SOS' can be useful.

The AI enabled device becomes a 24x7 buddy of a visually impaired person and is programmed to respond to many commonly asked questions related to the day-to-day life tasks or activities.

An AI enabled virtual assistant bot is able to understand the user’s intent, can respond and learn using AI APIs and ML (Machine Learning) models. It can help to automate many of the tasks done by a common man.

It is expected, the relationship between the persona and his system will grow stronger with time, as the Virtual Assistant device keeps machine learning and one day become a true ‘Buddy’ to our persona ‘Granddaddy’.

My storyboard has four situations or chapters in it and visually represents the conversations the persona and his system might have in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and even late at night.

So, let’s eavesdrop on Granddaddy and Buddy and find out what they are talking :).

The persona and the system are 'Grandddaddy' and 'AI Buddy' respectively.The interaction between them is what is illustrated in the storyboards.

Granddaddy

Mr. Ron Smith, Age 70 years, Resident of Serangoon, Singapore

•Retired Government worker, earned awards and respect.

•Lives alone in his apartment, 1 son who lives in Singapore, lost his spouse 5 years back due to an illness.

•Loves News, Music, Food and People

•Tries not to seek other’s help unless very necessary.

AI Buddy

An AI enabled Virtual Assistant Device. Owned by Granddaddy

•A 24x7 self-learning companion of a visually impaired person with ‘Voice Command’ and ‘Touch & Feel’ User Interface.

•It is a combination of multiple technologies like Smart Phone, Radio, GPS, Laser Distance Meter, Smart Cane with Sensors, Cameras etc.
